Silent Hill: Townfall Auxiliary Lines Puzzle: AUX Room Switches
Get the AUX Key from locker 0825, read the Auxiliary Lines document and set the one-, two- and three-stripe switch groups until all three AUX Room lights turn green.
Quick answer
Open locker 0825 beside the SWDP - Different console for the AUX Key, then load the AUX Disk in the AUX Room computer to get the Auxiliary Lines document. A vertical line means switch up, a flat line means down. Switches marked with one stripe belong to Line 1, two stripes to Line 2, three stripes to Line 3. Read Lines 1 and 2 right to left from the cabinet and Line 3 left to right from the door.

Get the key and the document
This detour starts at the Remote Systems Control console, before the Flush Aux Line B step. The locker to the right of the console opens with 0825 and holds the AUX Key. Ride the elevator up to the AUX Room, insert the disk into the computer there and read the Auxiliary Lines document it produces. That document is the answer key: it shows three patterns, one per line.
Read the patterns correctly
The room has three groups of red switches. White stripes painted beside each switch tell you its line: one stripe for Line 1, two for Line 2, three for Line 3. On the document, a vertical stroke (|) means the switch faces up and a flat stroke (_) means it faces down.
Direction is where most attempts go wrong. Lines 1 and 2 start at the wall facing away from the computer and read right to left from the cabinet. Line 3 reads left to right starting from the door. When a group matches, its light turns green.
Solve it from your own document
You can solve each line without a walkthrough by converting the document one symbol at a time.
- Count the switches with one stripe, then the symbols in the Line 1 pattern. The numbers should match; if not, you are counting switches from another group.
- Stand at the correct starting end: the cabinet for Lines 1 and 2, the door for Line 3.
- Work along the group in the reading direction, setting each switch to the next symbol: | is up, _ is down.
- Check the light. If it stays red, the most likely fault is reading from the wrong end, so set the same pattern in reverse and check again.
Reported switch patterns
Only one walkthrough, allthings.how, publishes the full patterns, so compare them with your own document before relying on them. If they disagree, trust the document in your game. The second column shows the patterns as they appear on the document, so you can compare them symbol by symbol.
| Line | As on the document | Switch positions | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (one stripe) | | _ | | _ | _ | | | Up, Down, Up, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Up | Right to left from the cabinet, 9 switches |
| 2 (two stripes) | | _ _ _ | _ _ | | | Up, Down, Down, Down, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up | Right to left from the cabinet, 9 switches |
| 3 (three stripes) | _ | | | _ | _ | | Down, Up, Up, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up | Left to right from the door, 8 switches |
Common questions
Why is one light still red?
Usually that line is being read from the wrong end. Lines 1 and 2 run right to left from the cabinet, and Line 3 runs left to right from the door.
Can I solve it without the AUX Disk?
The switch patterns come from the Auxiliary Lines document the disk produces, so load it first. Without it you would be guessing up to nine switches per line.
What do I do after the lights turn green?
Go back to the command console and enter the Flush Aux Line B input, ID 246.
