Silent Hill: Townfall Stealth and Hiding Guide

Learn the documented PS5 crouch and peek controls, why breaking line of sight matters, and what can go wrong when hiding in Silent Hill: Townfall.

Quick answer

Scout with the CRTV and peek before moving into view. If an enemy spots you, break its line of sight before trying to hide. In PlayStation Blog’s PS5 hands-on, Circle crouches and R1 with the right stick lets Simon peek; an enemy that sees him enter a locker can pull him out.

Observe without stepping into the open

Peeking lets you inspect around cover without treating every corner as a blind commitment. The PS5 hands-on describes holding R1 and using the right stick to adjust the peek. Pair the visible view with information from the CRTV: each helps you judge the next movement. Neither tool is a promise of invisibility. The point of scouting is to make a more informed choice about where to go, not to assume that cover removes every risk.

Crouching is a movement choice, not a reset

Circle is the crouch control reported in the same PS5 article. Use that information to understand the available movement tools, but do not treat crouching as proof that an enemy has forgotten you. Screen Burn describes creatures tracking Simon with their senses once he draws attention. If you have been seen, the immediate problem is the enemy’s knowledge of your position, rather than simply whether Simon is standing or crouched.

Do not lead a pursuer straight to your hiding place

A locker can fail as a hiding spot if an enemy watches you enter it. The hands-on describes a creature pulling Simon back out in that situation. The distinction is between being out of view and being concealed in a place the pursuer already knows about. A useful response to a chase is therefore to look for a way to break sight before choosing a hiding place, rather than heading into the nearest locker while still being watched.

Reassess when the encounter changes

An approach that works while you are unnoticed may stop working once a hunt begins. The developer presents evasion, distraction, concealment, and combat as options that can change during an encounter. There is no verified universal waiting time after which every enemy gives up. Base the next move on the situation you can observe instead of an assumed countdown. Some threats must be evaded, so remaining flexible is more useful than committing to a single response to every creature.

Common questions

Are these the PC keyboard controls?

No. The button names here come from published PS5 coverage. Check the control settings and prompts in the PC version for its bindings rather than translating controller buttons into guessed keys.

Is a locker always safe once I am inside?

No. Being seen entering one can expose the hiding place. Concealment needs to be considered together with the enemy’s view of Simon, not just the presence of a locker nearby.
